Please note that Finbar Cullen no longer works as a freelance prospect researcher. He may be available for employment, but not as a freelance researcher.

ResearchPlus worked with the fundraisers to provide prospect research and consultancy services. This usually involves researching trusts, individuals and companies.

ResearchPlus helped charities find new potential supporters, and develop relationships with existing supporters.

ResearchPlus is under a legal obligation to let you know what personal information we collect about you and what we use it for.  It is important that you understand why we collected such information and on what basis we do so.

How ResearchPlus used your information

When we collected information we generally did so on one of two grounds:

  1. If you order a service from ResearchPlus we were entitled to process your information in order to deliver that service.
  2. Where ResearchPlus undertook research on behalf of fundraisers, we looked at potential supporters through ‘legitimate interest’. ResearchPlus acted as data processor, with the client acting as data controller.

When conducting research on grant making trusts, individuals and companies we only used publicly available resources, such as Companies House, Who’s Who, LinkedIn, the Charity Commission, The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and other similar directories and sources, publications such as the Sunday Times Rich List, and general internet searches.

ResearchPlus carefully reviewed the data we collected in order to ensure that the legitimate interests of including any individuals were balanced with their rights to privacy.   We never collected and stored such information in the form of a database, and the research was not held for future retrieval. All personal information was deleted soon after the research is completed.

ResearchPlus does not collect and store ‘sensitive personal data’, unless that data has been released into the public domain by the individual themselves or where information is reported by reputable press sources.

How we used data sent to us by clients

Where we undertook bespoke audits, research and consultancy services to fundraising charities we may be asked to review their current trust supporters or prospects.  We never shared such data with outside parties (unless required to do so by law) and typically limit the downloading of data to one computer.  Once the work was completed we disposed of the original source material within six months, or sooner.

Staying Compliant

All personal data was processed by staff of ResearchPlus in the strictest confidence. Only authorised staff have access to the servers.

How to access your personal information

You have the right to request the data we hold on you (Subject Access Request), update or amend the data we hold on you, ask that your personal information is removed (right to be forgotten), change your communication preferences or withdraw consent at any time.

If you would like to contact us regarding any of the above email
